ICHEPI

Interdisciplinary Center for Healthcare Economics, Policy and Innovation

PEOPLE & LEADERSHIP

Research Is Built Around People, Ideas and Collaboration

ICHEPI is being developed as an independent interdisciplinary research initiative connecting healthcare economics, policy, management, behavioral science, and innovation.

Its current leadership provides the intellectual foundation for the Center while an open collaborative model enables future partnerships across institutions, disciplines, and health systems.

Dr. Mohannad M. Alarqan

Healthcare Economist and Researcher

Dr. Alarqan is the Founder and Executive Director of ICHEPI. His research spans healthcare economics, health policy, hospital management, health-system resilience, behavioral health economics, digital health, and the economics of healthcare innovation.

His work examines how health systems can allocate limited resources more effectively, improve operational performance, strengthen resilience, and assess whether technological and organizational innovations generate measurable system value.

A recurring emphasis across this work is the translation of economic and policy evidence into practical questions relevant to healthcare organizations and decision-makers, particularly in MENA and resource-constrained settings.

RESEARCH LENS

From Individual Decisions to Health-System Performance

The underlying research perspective connects microeconomic behavior, organizational decision-making, healthcare operations, and system-level policy.

This allows questions about incentives, patient and provider behavior, hospital efficiency, technology adoption, workforce organization, resilience, and resource allocation to be examined as interconnected parts of healthcare-system performance.

An Open Collaborative Model

ICHEPI is designed to grow through collaboration rather than through the appearance of a large formal structure before one exists.

The Center welcomes project-based relationships with researchers, universities, healthcare organizations, clinicians, analysts, and policy institutions whose expertise complements specific areas of the research agenda.

Future collaborators and formal research roles will be presented transparently as those relationships are established.

POTENTIAL COLLABORATION

  • Joint research
  • Comparative studies
  • Methods collaboration
  • Policy analysis
  • Data and modelling
  • Research translation
