ICHEPI

Interdisciplinary Center for Healthcare Economics, Policy and Innovation

ABOUT ICHEPI

Interdisciplinary Thinking for Better Health Systems

ICHEPI is an independent interdisciplinary research initiative advancing evidence at the intersection of healthcare economics, health policy, healthcare management, and innovation.

We examine how health systems can generate greater value from constrained resources while responding to technological, organizational, economic, and policy change.

Who We Are

The Interdisciplinary Center for Healthcare Economics, Policy and Innovation (ICHEPI) brings together economic, policy, management, behavioral, and technological perspectives to address complex healthcare-system challenges.

Our work is internationally oriented, with particular attention to MENA and resource-constrained health systems, while drawing on evidence and comparative experience from health systems worldwide.

OUR MISSION

Generate Evidence That Matters

To generate and translate rigorous interdisciplinary evidence that supports better decisions in healthcare financing, resource allocation, management, policy, and innovation.

OUR VISION

Better-Performing Health Systems

More efficient, equitable, resilient, and innovative health systems informed by sound economic, managerial, and policy evidence.

What We Study

ICHEPI’s research agenda is organized around four interconnected domains.

Healthcare Economics & Value

Efficiency, economic evaluation, behavioral health economics, incentives, resource allocation, utilization, and value-based healthcare.

Health Policy & System Resilience

Financing, access, equity, workforce, resilience, strategic capacity, pharmaceutical policy, and health-system performance.

Healthcare Management & Operations

Hospital efficiency, patient flow, capacity management, workforce, operational flexibility, and process redesign.

Digital Health, AI & Innovation Economics

Digital health, artificial intelligence, interoperability, simulation, technology adoption, and the economics of healthcare innovation.

How We Work

Our work follows a simple principle: meaningful healthcare research should connect evidence, interpretation, and action.

01

Investigate

Identify consequential healthcare-system problems and examine them using appropriate economic, policy, managerial, and interdisciplinary methods.

02

Interpret

Distinguish what the evidence supports from what remains uncertain, and connect findings to real healthcare-system decisions.

03

Translate

Translate research into academic outputs, policy briefs, methodological tools, analytical insights, and collaborative projects.

Our Principles

Scientific Rigor

Claims should remain proportionate to the quality and limitations of the evidence.

Policy Relevance

Research should address questions with meaningful implications for healthcare systems and decision-makers.

Interdisciplinarity

Healthcare challenges rarely belong to one discipline; our research deliberately crosses traditional boundaries.

Transparency

Methods, assumptions, limitations, evidence boundaries, and relevant interests should be reported clearly.

Independence

Research conclusions should remain analytically independent of institutional, commercial, or policy interests.

INSTITUTIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Independent by Design

ICHEPI currently operates as an independent interdisciplinary research initiative. It is not presently affiliated with a university, governmental body, or commercial organization.

Research partnerships, institutional collaborations, funding relationships, and potential conflicts of interest are identified transparently where applicable.
